Lydia N. Wright, MD, FACOG
Dr. Wright received her medical degree from UNC Chapel Hill. She completed residency in general OB-Gyn and a fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at UNC Chapel Hill and is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in both Maternal Fetal Medicine and Ob-Gyn. She and her family moved to Wilmington after her fellowship and they have been an active part of the community for many years. As Medical Director of Wilmington Maternal Fetal Medicine, Dr. Wright advocates for the highest quality of care for her patients. She has built a multi-disciplinary team that is well trained, experienced and compassionate. Dr. Wright’s professional interests include prenatal diagnosis including ultrasound, CVS, and amniocentesis, multiple pregnancies, and all high risk issues with the goal for a healthy mom and healthy baby(s). Her hobbies include cooking, walking, and most of all, spending time with family and her golden retriever.
Alissa R. Carver, MD, FACOG
Dr. Carver received her medical degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. This was followed by Ob/Gyn residency at UNC Chapel Hill and Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She is board certified in both Ob/Gyn and Maternal-Fetal Medicine by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She subsequently worked at Mercer University in Georgia and the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor prior to moving to Wilmington. This includes a strong background in regional high-risk pregnancy care coordination in areas such as diabetes, substance use disorders, cardiac disease, and placenta accreta spectrum. Her interests include prenatal ultrasound and genetic diagnosis, fetal therapy/surgery, maternal safety/quality improvement. She is eager to bring this experience to support excellent high risk pregnancy care in Wilmington and beyond.
Jane Merk, WHNP
Jane graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Nursing Degree and from Drexel University with her Master's Degree in Nursing. She has been a board certified Women's Health Nurse Practitioner since 2011. Since 2016 Jane has worked in Maternal Fetal Medicine. She has broad experience in quality evidence-based maternal fetal medicine and co-management of complex obstetrical issues. She also has extensive expertise in diabetes management in pregnancy.
Sara Delvasto, MS, CGC
Sara received her Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in biology from Georgia Southern University in 2018 and her Master of Science (MS) degree in Medical Genetics/Genetic Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2021. Sara came to work at Wilmington Maternal Fetal Medicine following the completion of her training. She is passionate about supporting and advocating for her patients through all their needs and all stages of pregnancy -- regardless of whether they are considering a pregnancy, currently pregnant, or following a pregnancy. When not with her patients, Sara enjoys being outdoors, rock-climbing, and hiking. Sara can also frequently be sighted at the various coffee shops in Wilmington.

Ashley Tompkins, MS, CGC
Ashley been a board certified Genetic Counselor since 2002. She received her undergraduate degree from Penn State University and her Master’s Degree in Medical Genetics/Genetic Counseling from the University of Cincinnati. She came to work in prenatal genetic counseling in Wilmington right out of graduate school and has dedicated her career to maternal fetal care in Southeastern North Carolina. She is a strong advocate for patient autonomy and strives to develop a partnership with her patients in their care. When not at the practice, Ashley enjoys being on the water with her family and friends.
